Keeping our children safe online

Online safety is one of the toughest things to police for our children at the moment. With so many apps and games that offer chat functions and photo options it can be scary and worrying for parents. We have found some great posters that give an insight into the most popular online apps and hope by sharing these that we can offer some help to parents who are finding the online world a minefield.

One of the posters also offers some great questions that can be used as conversation starters with our children. Keeping the lines of communication open so that children can come with any worries or questions and arming ourselves with as much knowledge about these apps is the first step in protecting them all from the perils of the internet.

Internet safety for 4-7year olds

Introducing the idea of a safer internet to younger children can be quite challenging. Jessie & Friends is a series of three animations from online safety specialist at the National Crime Agency’s CEOP Command.

The videos follow the adventures of Jessie, Tia and Mo as they begin to navigate the online world, watching videos, sharing pictures and playing games. A storybook accompanies each episode, to help adults keep the conversation going with the children.
